BRACES (ORTHODONTICS)

Orthodontic treatment (dental braces) involves the use of devices to move teeth or adjust underlying bone.  In order words, orthodontic treatment is aimed at improving aesthetics – aligning crooked teeth – and also function – the way you bite.  At Cheers Dental Care we offer orthodontic treatment (braces) for children and adults and various braces.

We have a range of different orthodontic appliances (braces) available at our clinic.  We provide fixed braces (the traditional metal braces), Invisalign (clear aligners), functional appliances (braces that can help with the growth of your jaws), removable braces and also retainers.  It is important to note that each person and their teeth are unique, and certain braces may not be appropriate for you.

If you or your child is interested in having braces you can arrange an orthodontic consultation at our clinic.  Below is the list of steps to receiving orthodontic treatment at Cheers:

1.Initial Consultation

  • At our initial consultation we will assess you or your child’s needs for braces,  ascertain your expectations for the treatment.  We will also examine if you have any habits that may have resulted in an improper bite.
  • We will also require certain information in order to perform a thorough analysis to determine the best type of brace and treatment for you
  • All of the above will be analysed in order to formulate the most ideal treatment plans for you

2. Analysis and Treatment Options

  • At your next appointment we will arrange for an orthodontic consultation with your dentist. In this appointment your dentist will explain the results of your analysis and also provide you with the best treatment plan for you.
  • We have many different orthodontic appliances (braces) available, and your dentist will advise which is most suitable to treat your teeth.
  • If you agree to the treatment plan that our dentists provides, at your next visit your braces will be delivered/glued on

3. Delivery of Braces

  • We will arrange an appointment for your braces to be fixed/delivered. Our dentists and assistants will instruct you on how to care for your braces as well as your teeth.

4. Visits for adjustments and progress review

  • You will be required to come back for adjustments and examinations in order to ensure that your teeth are moving as planned.

5. Retainer

  • After you complete your braces treatment your dentist may provide you with a retainer – this is so that your teeth stay in place!
